Cambria 2006 Julia’s Pinot Noir offers fresh cherry, blueberry, strawberry and cranberry fruit flavors accented with cinnamon and vanilla oak spice characters. The mid-palate has a silky texture and balanced tannins that lead into a fruity and earthy finish.

Aromatic and velvety Julia's Pinot Noir, named for owner Barbara Banke's younger daughter, is a signature wine of the estate. Benchland is perhaps the most prized piece of real estate on earth for winemakers. Blessed with ancient, complex soils, benchlands produce wines that are supremely balanced and utterly profound. The Cambria Estate vineyard is located 17 miles from the Pacific Ocean in Santa Maria. It is a remarkable place for Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Syrah. It is 100% benchland.

Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine: "Sweet oak smelling of roasted vanilla beans with a hint of creme caramel joins with ripe cherries and whispers of raspberry in this wine's medium-volume and fairly open aromas, and that same sense of openness shows up in the wine's fairly rounded, slightly soft-edged texture and flavors. On the whole, it is well-balanced and ready to enjoy today." (October 2007) The 2005 Julia’s Pinot Noir offers dark ripe Bing cherry, raspberry and strawberry flavors that open into an underlying earthiness. A round mid-palate leads to vanilla and cinnamon spice on the silky finish. Aged for seven months 100% French oak (30% new). 1 Star.
