Fully ripened plummy, spicy Shiraz fruit with some blueberry and dark chocolate notes as well. These are all complimented nicely by a swirl of charry French oak somewhere in the mix. Displays a degree of opulence that we don’t often see in a Clare Shiraz.
The palate is all ripe cherries, plums and spice with a core of dark chocolate running through the mid palate, while a hit of fine, dry tannins on the finish adds length and structure to the soft, plush fruit. A richly flavoured wine that will be most attractive to Shiraz fans. No problem to drink this wine as a youngster, but as usual 4-7 years will see some evolution in the wine and repay those who care enough to stash some away in a cool, dark place.
The 2004 Shiraz is purple in color with aromas of espresso, licorice, and blueberry. Mouth-filling yet elegant, this lengthy wine will evolve for several years and drink well through 2025.

‘This wine now carries the word on the label to indicate the area of the Clare from which the grapes were drawn. At the same time it is not a big shiraz, being more refined than the style generally associated with the grape in Australia. The fruit wins out over the oak, which is well in the background. Ripe plum and berry fruit is complemented by spice and some earthy characters”.
